Water pump for the Ferrari F355. Capristo redesigned the pump completely rather than copying the original, and the same part also covers the Ferrari 348.

What is different from the original

• The impeller is aluminium die casting instead of the original design;
• The impeller-to-shaft joint uses a square-cut fitting, so the impeller cannot twist on the shaft.

The shaft connection is the point that matters. When the original joint loses its grip the impeller stops following the shaft, coolant flow drops away and the engine overheats while the belt and pulley still turn normally - a failure that is easy to misread as a thermostat or radiator problem.

Build

Manufactured at the Capristo factory in Sundern, Germany, to the dimensions of the original pump, so it mounts in the standard housing position with the factory gaskets and fixings.

Before you order

• The same pump is listed for the Ferrari 348;
• Check which pulley your car uses before fitting, since the drive pulley differs between model years;
• A pump change is usually done together with a belt service, as access is the same job.
