Water pump for the Ferrari 550 and 575 Maranello. Capristo supplies it as a completely revised replacement for the original pump of the front-engined V12.

What is different

• Aluminium die-cast impeller;
• Square-cut fitting between impeller and shaft, so the impeller cannot work loose and spin on the shaft.

That connection is what usually ends the life of the original pump. Nothing leaks and nothing rattles; the engine simply starts running hot because the impeller no longer follows the shaft. Replacing the unit with a revised design removes the failure mode rather than resetting the clock on it.

Build and fitment

Manufactured at Capristo's factory in Sundern, Germany, to original dimensions, mounting in the standard position with the factory gasket and fixings. On the 550 and 575 the pump is comparatively accessible, which keeps the labour reasonable.
