Water pump Capristo Ferrari 456 GT

Water pump for the Ferrari 456 GT. The pump is a redesigned replacement for the original unit of the 5.5 V12, built by Capristo rather than rebuilt from factory components.

What is different

• Aluminium die-cast impeller;
• Square-cut fitting on the impeller-to-shaft joint, which prevents the impeller from twisting on the shaft.

On the V12 cars of this generation the impeller joint is the usual reason a pump is replaced. The symptom is temperature climbing with no visible leak and no belt noise: the shaft keeps turning while the impeller no longer moves coolant.

Build and fitment

Produced at the Capristo factory in Sundern, Germany, to the dimensions of the original pump, so it fits the standard housing position with the factory gasket and fixings.

Before you order

• The 456 has its own part number; the 550 and 575 pump is listed separately;
• Check which drive pulley your car uses and keep it if it is in good condition;
• Replace the o-ring on installation and pressure-test the cooling system afterwards;
• Access is easiest during a belt service, so the two jobs are usually combined.
