X-pipe centre section for the Ferrari 550 Maranello. These link pipes replace the factory centre section between the manifolds and the rear silencer and are the logical second step after a sports rear muffler: the X junction balances the pulses of the two cylinder banks and adds volume exactly where a rear silencer alone goes quiet, in the upper rev range.

Material and build

1.4828 (AISI T309) stainless steel, mandrel-bent and hand TIG welded in Sundern, Germany, then polished. The same grade Capristo uses for its rear silencers, rated for exhaust temperatures above 600 °C.

What it changes

• Lower back pressure than the OEM centre section, so the V12 pulls more freely at high revs;
• Fuller, more even sound with the rear valves open;
• Lighter than the factory part.

Good to know

• Built specifically for the 550 Maranello - the 575 has its own part number because the centre section differs;
• Works both with the OEM rear muffler and with the Capristo valved silencer;
• Fits the OEM mounting points, no modification of the floor or hangers needed;
• Sound level rises noticeably, which matters if the car is also used on the road.
