Rear silencer with exhaust valves for the Ferrari 550 and 575 Maranello. It replaces the factory rear muffler on the front-engined V12: with the valves closed the car stays civil in town, with them open the engine gets its full voice.

Material and build

Heat-resistant 1.4828 (AISI T309) stainless steel, welded by hand in a TIG process and polished to a high gloss in Sundern, Germany. Every system goes through a final quality check. The double-skinned build weighs less than the OEM muffler and keeps less heat in the exhaust.

Power and sound

Capristo quotes about +12 PS from the freer flow of the system. The silencer is supplied with two exhaust valves that follow the factory vacuum signal, so the car behaves as standard until load and revs open them.

Good to know

• An optional remote control unit holds the valves open permanently, independently of the engine ECU;
• A version without valves is built for the same car if you prefer a fixed sound level;
• X-pipe centre sections are listed separately for the 550 and for the 575 and work together with this silencer;
• Supplied without German type approval - check the rules in your market before road use;
• Bolt-on fit to the OEM mounting points and hangers.
