Valved rear silencer for the facelift Audi R8 with the 4.2 FSI V8. The part is matched to the later bodywork and rear panel of the facelift car, so the tailpipe position stays correct.

Versions

• With CES-3 controller and ECE approval (02AU00803013);
• Catless, with the EVCU-1 control unit (02AU00803004).

The catless version is supplied with the EVCU-1 control unit; the ECE approved version comes with the CES-3 remote controller, which switches the valves from the key fob and from a handset in the cabin.

How it works

The valves sit in the rear silencer and stay closed at light load, so cruising noise is close to standard. Opened, the gas path shortens and bypasses the damping chambers, which is where the volume and the sharper response come from.

Material and build

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, hand TIG welded and polished in Sundern, Germany. Capristo develops its parts on 3D laser scans of the original pipework, so the silencer bolts to the standard hangers and connections without cutting.

Before you order

• The ECE approved version keeps the car street legal in Europe;
• Weight is lower than the stock silencer because the damping volume is smaller;
• Tailpipes and the sport cat section are ordered separately;
• Installation is reversible.
