Valved rear silencer for the second generation Audi R8 of the 4S series, V10 and V10 Plus. The car keeps the 5.2 FSI naturally aspirated ten-cylinder, and this part replaces the heavily damped standard silencer behind it.

Versions

• With CES-3 controller and ECE approval (02AU00803017);
• Catless, with the EVCU-1 control unit and ECE approval (02AU00803021).

Both versions are available with ECE approval; the catless one is supplied with the EVCU-1 unit, the other with the CES-3 remote controller.

How it works

The valves sit in the rear silencer and stay closed at light load, so cruising noise is close to standard. Opened, the gas path shortens and bypasses the damping chambers, which is where the volume and the sharper response come from.

Material and build

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, hand TIG welded and polished in Sundern, Germany. Capristo develops its parts on 3D laser scans of the original pipework, so the silencer bolts to the standard hangers and connections without cutting.

Before you order

• Weight is lower than the stock silencer because the damping volume is smaller;
• Tailpipes and the sport cat section are ordered separately;
• ECU programming may be needed on versions that remove the filter or the catalysts;
• Installation is reversible.
