Exhaust system for the Ferrari F355. It is the system the model is usually judged by, and the reason is not only the sound: Capristo's patented design addresses the problem that destroys original F355 exhausts.

The header failure problem

In the factory system the bypass and the main catalyst paths converge in a way that can create a vacuum, pulling hot exhaust gases backwards and overheating the manifolds until they crack. Capristo separates the two paths into two independent circuits, which removes that mechanism and reduces thermal stress on the engine.

How it sounds

Below about 4000 rpm with the valve closed the car is refined and only slightly sportier than standard; above that, and with the valve open, the flat-plane V8 is heard the way the F355 is remembered.

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, hand TIG welded and polished in Sundern, Germany.

Options and alternatives

A valve bypass and remote control kit is available, and Capristo also lists a racing version with catalyst replacement pipes and high-flow sport cats for track-focused cars.
