Exhaust system for the Ferrari 458 Spider. The Spider carries its own part number because the folding hardtop changes the space available behind the engine, and the system is built around that.

What it changes

With the roof down the exhaust is far more present than in the coupe, so the ability to close the flaps matters more here than anywhere else in the 458 range. Open, the 4.5 V8 is heard without the factory damping, and on an engine that revs to 9000 rpm the top end is where the difference is largest.

Material and build

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, hand TIG welded and polished to a mirror finish in Sundern, Germany, with Capristo's own valves and the patented reinforced construction against resonance.

A detail specific to the Spider

With the roof stowed the exhaust note reaches the cabin directly rather than through the rear bulkhead, which is why owners of the Spider tend to use the closed setting more often than coupe owners do.

• Sport cats and headers for the 458 family are separate positions;
• Check which flap control your car uses before choosing the configuration;
• Installation uses the original mounting points.
