Exhaust system with vacuum flaps for the Ferrari 328. It is the valved counterpart to the FreeFlow system: the same free-flowing design, but with flaps that let you keep a quiet setting when the car is used on the road.

How the flaps work

The valves are vacuum actuated and controlled by the Capristo unit supplied with the system. Closed, the 3.2 V8 stays civil; opened, the car moves to the loudest level the FreeFlow range offers.

Material and build

Heat-resistant 1.4828 (AISI T309) stainless steel, welded entirely by hand in a TIG process and polished to a high gloss in Sundern, Germany, with a final quality check on every system.

Why a valved system on a classic

On a car of this age the exhaust is one of the few places where character can be changed without touching the engine. A flap system keeps that change reversible from the cabin rather than fixed by the hardware.

Before you order

• The system is supplied without German TÜV approval, so road use is restricted in Germany and in part elsewhere;
• Capristo notes that the car should not be revved hard while standing still;
• The non-valved FreeFlow system is a separate position and covers the 308 QV and Mondial 3.2 as well;
• Mounting brackets are supplied with the kit.
