Exhaust system for the carburettor Ferrari 308 GTB. The early 308 has no catalysts and no electronics in the exhaust path, so the system is as simple as it gets: manifolds, pipes and a silencer, and every one of those parts shapes the sound.

What it changes

On a carburettor car the exhaust is the last element in a purely mechanical chain. A free-flowing system lets the 2.9 V8 rev out without the restriction of the original silencer, and the difference is heard across the whole range rather than only at the top.

Material and build

Heat-resistant 1.4828 (AISI T309) stainless steel, welded entirely by hand in a TIG process and polished to a high gloss in Sundern, Germany. On a classic the material matters twice: it resists corrosion far better than the original steel and will outlast several sets of factory parts.

Before you order

• Carburettor and injected 308s use different systems, so order by specification rather than by model year alone;
• Capristo lists a separate system for the 308 QV, 328 and Mondial 3.2;
• Replace the flange gaskets and check the studs during installation on a car of this age;
• Mounting follows the original points.
