Exhaust system for the Audi TT RS 8S with the 2.5 TFSI EA855 EVO five-cylinder. The engine is the reason people buy the car, and on cars with a particulate filter the standard rear section takes most of its character away.

How it works

The valves stay closed at light load, so cruising noise is close to standard. Opened, the gas path shortens and bypasses the damping chambers, which is where the volume and the sharper response come from. The five-cylinder firing order is the reason this engine sounds unlike anything else in the range, and the standard system hides most of it.

Material and build

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, rated for continuous temperatures above 600 C, hand TIG welded and polished to a mirror finish in Sundern, Germany, engineered on 3D laser scans of the original pipework.

Before you order

• On cars with a particulate filter the effect is stronger together with OPF replacement pipes;
• ECU programming may be needed if the filter or catalysts are removed;
• Tailpipes are chosen separately, several shapes are available;
• Installation uses the original mounting points and is reversible.
