Downpipes for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The plug-in hybrid runs a 2.0 turbo four with an electric motor, and the catalyst section behind the turbocharger is where the exhaust side of that package is most restricted.

What it changes

• Back pressure drops behind the turbo, so the engine builds boost against less resistance;
• The four cylinder gains presence, which on a hybrid is heard mainly when the combustion engine takes over from electric drive;
• Weight comes off the factory catalyst assembly.

Material and build

1.4828 (AISI T309) stainless steel, hand TIG welded and polished in Sundern, Germany, built to the dimensions of the original section so it mounts in the factory position.

Before you order

• Replacing the converter can set a check engine light and may require software work;
• Emissions rules differ by market, so check what is permitted before road use;
• On a hybrid the engine bay is shared with high voltage components, so installation should be done by a workshop familiar with the car;
• Bolt-on fit to the OEM flanges.
