Replacement pipes for the catalyst section of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and GLE 63 S with the M157 5.5 biturbo V8, in the W166 SUV and C292 Coupe bodies. They take the place of the standard converters, the largest restriction left in the exhaust once the rear silencer has been opened up.

Two versions

• Pipes in place of the secondary catalysts (02MB09103007);
• Fully catless pipes (02MB09103008).

The first keeps the primary converters in the car and only removes the second stage; the second takes the catalyst section out entirely and is a track part.

What changes

Catalyst substrates are the narrowest point exhaust gas passes through. Taking them out of the path lets the turbochargers unload faster, so spool and throttle response change before anything is heard, and the V8 loses the muffled edge the ceramic gives it.

Material and build

T309 (1.4828) stainless steel, rated above 600 C, hand TIG welded and polished to a mirror finish in Sundern, Germany, developed on 3D laser scans of the original parts.

Before you order

• Tuning is needed so no fault is set after the swap;
• The catless version is for off-road and track use;
• They combine with the Capristo exhaust system for the same car;
• Installation uses the original flanges and is reversible.
