BMW M3 F80: Stage 2 on hybrid turbos
431 hp stock, 620 hp on pump fuel after hybrid turbos and a 3" exhaust. Here is what we changed and why.
The car arrived on stock hardware with a remapped ECU — the owner wanted "a little more". On the S55, a little more ends where the stock turbochargers end: around 520 hp on 98 octane. Past that point only the exhaust gas temperature keeps rising.
What was changed
We fitted hybrid turbochargers on the factory mounting points. That matters: the turbo mounts, manifolds and plumbing stay stock, so the car remains serviceable anywhere.

- 3" catless downpipes
- Uprated intercooler
- Injectors and low-pressure fuel pump
The result
620 hp and 780 Nm on 98 octane. More important than the peak number is that torque holds flat to the limiter — no mid-range dip, which is the usual symptom of a hybrid built around the wrong turbine wheel.
On 100 octane the same package makes about 660 hp, but we deliberately kept the 98-octane map: this is a daily driver.
The DCT stayed stock apart from a revised clutch pressure map — without it the clutches start slipping at around 600 Nm.
